Consultants Clare Halstead and Steve Geliot who were commissioned by Havant Borough Council and Winchester City Council to write a strategy and action plan to guide the use of the art contribution have now been contracted to deliver a one year action plan. You can find out all about the events that they will be running from August this year on http://www.wowpod.org.uk
The first stage of the public art project includes the design and build of a WOWPOD: a moveable structure that will be a platform for events and activities. The WOWPOD is now being built, and a series of creative workshops will be running alongside so that you can come and find out more about what a WOWPOD is and what will be happening in and around it in the future.
The first summer workshops will be held on the 14, 21 and 28 August and 4 September in a gazebo near the Hambledon Road play area. The morning craft sessions, run by artists from Making Space craft centre will be held from 10am to noon, and will be a chance for adults and children to make bunting (14 August), jewellery (21 August), plush toys (28 August) or wire sculptures (4 September). In the afternoons there will be creative writing sessions with Brian Evans Jones, Hampshire Poet in Residence from 1 – 3pm. All the sessions are free and will be available for people to drop in (up to capacity), and places for the writing sessions can also be booked in advance by calling Clare Halstead on 07855 934 701 or by emailing via this website.
We hope residents will enjoy this packed programme of activities. Do come along and be part of them when you are able.
